Cap Toe and Wingtip Shoes
Cap toe dress shoes ( pictured on the first page) are a similar style to the Oxford shoes but have a cap overlay on the end normally with some stitched detail. They are smart shoes and portray quality. They can be reserved for special occasions or formal events as well as business. Wingtips are defined by the design over the toe-box and extending the length of the shoe that resemble wings.
- Both cap toes and wingtips may have punched brogue perforations along the leather detailing
- Still considered a formal dress shoe, the more brogue details – the less formal said dress shoe becomes, but only by a touch
- Thicker soles grant a more masculine aesthetic
- Heavy brogues are better paired with a robust fabric such as corduroy, flannel, or tweed
- A simple, plain cap toe is still considered to be slightly dressier than a wingtip
