Even before the arrival of my daughter, I had committed myself to a robust grooming regimen with a complete overhaul of my skin care products. Jack Black was one of the first skin care brands that I decided to trial. I instantly became a huge fan.
Fast-forward to the here and now, I have been afforded the fortuitous opportunity to test and evaluate the Jack Black Defensive Line Anti-Aging Triple Play leading into Father’s Day. The silky liquid texture is readily absorbed allowing for immediate delivery of the efficacious ingredients below the skin’s surface. Serums are intended to be used with a moisturizer or blended with another product. It is the ideal companion to any of our moisturizers (Line Smoother or Double-Duty) or Post Shave Cooling Gel. Except for customers with oily skin, serums are not intended to provide adequate hydration when used alone.

Observations
- Residing inside an opaque, cobalt blue glass bottle, the contents arrive with a somber yellow appearance and slightly greasy touch. However, don’t allow the appearance or the feel dissuade you from granting Jack Black’s skin serum an audience.
- As noted above, the serum does have a slightly greasy feel, but it is quickly absorbed by the skin and leaves no greasy residue.
- It should also be noted that the skin serum should not act as a replacement for your skin moisturizer. Both a good skin moisturizer and serum should be used in conjunction for optimal results. I usually chased the application of the serum with Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer.
- In comparison, I used regular body lotion (Lubriderm) as an alternative to gauge results. The combination of the Jack Black serum and moisturizer left my skin feeling tighter and firmer after applying.
- For the Jack Black Protein Booster Serum, I would suggest that 2-3 pumps from the bottle should be sufficient for complete coverage of the face. The amount is small, so a bottle should afford a gentleman a long time of usage depending on the frequency of application.

Observations
- The resurfacing pads arrives as a medium-sized, slightly moistened circular wipe. There are approximately 40 wipes housed within each blue container with a silver flip-top lid for access.
- The wipes are pleasant smelling with slight hints of orange and lemon hanging in the air as you flip open the top. However, there is a faint hint of alcohol as well, so exhibit caution when using around the eye area.
- There is some slight tingling during and after usage, so if you are a gentleman with sensitive skin, you should probably apply a wipe to a small area and see how your skin reacts.
- The wipes do dry out the skin a little, so I would definitely follow up with a good moisturizer to revitalize your skin.

- Having logged my fair share of sleep-deprived nights, the Jack Black Eye Rescue is a much-needed booster to perk my eyes up. The soft, slightly creamy texture absorbs eagerly into the skin without a hint of residue.
- The cream is very gentle on the skin, so a gentleman need not worry about irritating the area around the eye.
- Much like the Jack Black Double-Duty Moisturizer, this eye cream will leave your skin tight and firm with the added benefit of knocking out puffiness.
In conclusion, I really like the Jack Black Defensive Line. It would be even better if the moisturizer was included as well. I would see myself using that more than the resurfacing pads. Nevertheless, this would be a cool addition to any gentleman’s grooming arsenal. The pricing may scare some men away because let’s face it; men generally don’t spend a lot of money on grooming products, nor do they delve into the nuances of skin care maintenance. However, if you are a gentleman that has a few worries about aging skin, I would most definitely recommend trialing the Jack Black Defensive Line. The link is below.
