Get Your Hands Dirty

From soiled diapers to baby spit-up, a gentleman should literally and figuratively, get his hands dirty. When a gentleman can accidentally get something unmentionable on his fingertips and not bat an eye, well, that is unconditional love. And trust, baby poo can be just as disagreeable as adult poo. Trust – I was a little squeamish about diving into the realm of infant bodily functions. But after I had a few soiled diapers under my belt, I was good to go.

• If possible, keep your baby upright after a feeding. And don’t bounce your baby; you’ll create a ticking time bomb full of spit-up.
• If you have a baby girl, and you are changing a diaper full of poo, ensure you wipe away from the vagina to prevent fecal matter from entering her little lady parts.
• For baby boys, try to make sure his little manhood his pointing down in the diaper. Hopefully, he won’t shoot you or himself in the eye.
• And speaking of bodily fluids, it would be wise to take mental note of the smell and appearance. If anything outside of the norm arises, be sure to contact your pediatrician as soon as possible. Our little one caught a bout of bad diarrhea, so we had to monitor her to make sure she wasn’t dehydrated.
